Girls told to put feet on their faith at 'Sock-It-To-Me' event
By Jamie Tate

The recent Sock-It-To-Me day camp at Calvary Baptist Church in Scottsboro, Alabama, did much more than provide new footwear for several residents of Alabama Baptist Children's Homes & Family Ministries.

Members of Girls in Action (GA) from five churches in northern Alabama came away from the event more ready than ever to put their best feet forward in missions. Event coordinator and children's minister Pat House said, "The goal in bringing in the socks was not only that the Children's Homes receives a lot of socks, but that the children learn to give."

House and her helper, Kelly Lassetter, are members of Rosalie Baptist Church, Sand Mountain Association. In addition to Calvary Baptist, Tennessee River Association churches represented among the GAs were Shiloh, Center Point, and Roaches Cove.

House told the girls that the children and youth living at Alabama Baptist Children's Homes need loving care everyday.

"Any of us could be in a situation where we need help, and God said we should help those in need," House said. "If we were separated from our families, we would miss them, so we should remember to pray for these children who can't live with their moms and dads."
