Tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, and fires - as workers rush to the scene of a disaster, every moment counts. Once the rescue operation is complete, then specialized crews move in to begin rebuilding everything caught in the path of destruction.

For about 115 years, Alabama Baptist Children's Homes & Family Ministries has worked to repair and restore the broken lives of children and families. Disaster can strike the home in so many ways including divorce, abuse, abandonment, anger, grief, financial stress, and more. Through professional, Christ-centered services, Alabama Baptist Children's Homes is able to meet a variety of needs.

With homes on campuses, group homes, foster homes, and now homes for mothers with dependent children, the ministry is helping hundreds of children find new hope, breaking the chains of poverty and abuse. Our highly trained staff can rush to the rescue as needed with emergency shelter services and family assistance in several areas of the state.

Professional counselors at 29 locations statewide not only help rebuild lives in crisis, they also give preventative help to ward off situations that could damage the home or heart. Our professional counselors go to churches and other groups to help members cope with grief, stress, and other struggles associated with crisis. The Baptist Children's Homes also provides free educational seminars on pre-marriage and marriage enrichment, child abuse prevention, and parenting children and teens.

As a part of our rescue team, you're asked to pray for our children, families, and staff. You can also help children and
families in need by participating in the Annual Children's Homes Offering, the Mile of Pennies project, and/or by placing the
Children's Homes in your church budget.

By remembering the Children's Homes in your will or estate plan, you leave a lasting legacy and help provide for the needs of children for years to come.

For your convenience, the Children's Homes offers free resources to assist your church in helping members become aware of the importance of the 2006 Annual Children's Homes Offering. Free resources available to your church include bulletin inserts, promotional posters, videos, and offering envelopes designed to fit in your churches' pew racks.

The Annual Children's Homes Offering provides at least one-third of the total annual operating budget of Alabama Baptist Children's Homes & Family Ministries.
